In The book of Romans Chapter 1:16 it says
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation
to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God
revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
The word reveal means to uncover, lay open what has been veiled or covered up. God
from the beginning of creation has been revealing things. About us and about himself.
The word of God declares to us the fall of man in the Garden and the means by which he would restore Mankind
back to himself. And That means was through a sacrifice.
This sacrifice is vividly portrayed through the prophetic act of Abraham offering his son Isaac
Genisis 22:1
1 ¶ And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto
him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.
2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest,
and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell
thee of.
God's command to Abraham seems hard to us and rightly so.
The picture that is being shown here is not a pretty one.
It involves killing and blood . It involves the offering not of a animal but the offering of Abraham's only
Son. What could be more precious to Abraham than the life of His son Isaac. I am sure that if possible Abraham would have
given his own life in place of Isaac's . But that was not what God had asked.
6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son;
and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham
his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the
lamb for a burnt offering?
8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they
went both of them together.
9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there,
and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
10 And Abraham stretched
forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
11 ¶ And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said,
Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing
unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.
13
And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went
and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name
of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
Abraham willingness to offer His only son as a sacrifice was an exact type of that which God the Father
would do for each one us.
Thousands of years later God Himself would offer his own Son for our sin upon the Cross of Calvary.
The Book of Isaiah declares that which God would do for us.
Isaiah 53:4 ¶ Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our
sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of
us all.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8 He was taken from prison and from judgment:
and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people
was he stricken.
9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no
violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10 ¶ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when
thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD
shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall
my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
This portion of scripture tells us many wonderful things.
It tells us that Jesus became an offering for us. And as an offering It tells us that
Jesus carried something for us.
Jesus carried our Griefs and Sorrows transgessions and iniquities and sins.
Jesus carried these things for you and me.
It pleased the LORD to bruise him and put Him to grief for us
God made his soul an offering for our sin.
And Verse 11 says that (God) He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied:
The work of Jesus upon the cross of Calvary has Satisfied
God's Sense of Justice toward Sin.
God Is Satisfied.
Jesus last words upon the cross were (It Is Finished)
Do you believe this. Have you recieved the work of Christ and embraced His sacrifice and gift of Life.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn
the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that
believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
In Christ Jesus we have eternal life , In Him there is no condemnation, In Jesus we never again experience
the anger of God , Because He is Satisfied
The very next chapter in Isaiah tells us the wonderful results regarding the work of Christ Isaiah 54:8 Says In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment;
but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.
9 For this is as the waters
of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would
not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall
not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
Toward those of us in Christ , God has said he would never be angry again. The New Covenant is a Covenant
of kindness mercy grace and peace.
Collossians 1:19 For it pleased the Father that in him should
all fulness dwell;
20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto
himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21 And you, that were sometime alienated
and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22 In the body of his flesh through death, to
present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
God has made peace with you and I through the Blood of Christs cross ,and now because of that cross He sees
us
holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
The Sacrifice of Jesus Christ sets us free. Our works don't save us , He does. It is a Completed Sacrifice
